  1. At present, special instructions such as "map exchange at control" are only available in some languages, but not in others.
In contrast to control descriptions proper, they cannot be customized via the "customize text description" menu option.
As a consequence, in my text description, "map exchange at control" appears in English, while everything else is German.
Apparently, all it needs is a few extra lines in the symbols.xml (or via Ctrl Shift Help Menu), but one would have to meddle with Windows Admin rights to write into that file.

  2. When placing control descriptions, adjusting its position and size for every course (due to different space on map within courses) some descriptions already placed has moved on the layout - it seems like descriptions are somehow related - when repositioned in place again, the other moves off and vice versa. Again and again. Help!

  4. All my controls have a code which I want in on the control/punch card, but I want to display the score for each control (31,32,33, etc.) ONLY on the map. It'd be great if "Score Only" were one of the options under Course Properties -> Control circle labels.

  5. Many years ago I used a planning program called Wincacs. One place it won out over purple pen was in its display of leg and control load. By drawing all used legs and controls in an event, with different size circles and thickness of lines depending on the loading it gave a much quicker idea of which legs and controls are overloaded. Currently this is a lot more clunky in purple pen. Its not critical, but it would be a nice addition.

    1. Assign a keyboard shortcut to Item>Remove Bends to speed up the process of removing bends from a course.

    2. Create a "Remove all bends" feature to remove all bends from a course or set of courses.

    3. Allow courses with straight lines joining controls and also the same courses with lines bent round objects to exist in the same PP file.

  6. I have found Purple Pen to be a fantastic planning resource. I want to make the case for a donation to my local orienteering club and it would help to know something of how things work behind the scenes!

  8. As a professional map printer, we usually supply the control descriptions glued at the head, and print 4 or 5 courses at one time, but is it possible to stop Purple Pen filling a sheet with cd's and just have them arranged at the head?

  9. Pourquoi, alors qu'il y a la possibilité de saisir ses schémas de poinçon, il n'y a pas la possibilité d'imprimer un carton de correction ?
Il serait vraiment intéressant d'imprimer les cartons de correction

  12. Any map detail between the end of the tail and the circle part of the number tends to make the 6 or 9 look like an 8. A straight tail would never be mistaken for an 8.

  13. When putting design on the map, I usually work with number of elements - map border, some text, some pics, logos. And very often I need to move group of them to some location. But currently this is not possible to select a group, therefore I only can select one object, and move one-by-one to new location. Very ineficient and very slow..

    Requirement:
Implement multiple object selection using mouse by pressing CTRL or SHIFT or by left click mouse and drag to select area with all objects in it.

  14. I would like to suggest one enhancement, if I may. It is related to graphics for courses.
Currently, objects like printing area and descriptions are associated with each course.
Other objects, such as white-out areas, images, lines, and texts are associated with an event. This creates a problem when the same map is used for events that have different map scales and paper sizes. In these cases, the graphic’s layout is different for each map scale.
I have an event to prepare that uses one map for two races. I would like to use one master map with all controls…

  15. The new support for butterflies and relay forking is great, but it would be awesome to have the option of creating course variations with phi-loops as well. These seem to be more commonly used by planners than traditional butterfly loops these days.

(Basic diagram of a phi-loop here, although note you can also include controls on the diagonal between 1,6 and 3,7: http://news.worldofo.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/philoop-300x226.jpg)

  16. I am working with school orientering where it is often suitable to work with text descriptions in stead of IOF symbols. PP creates automatically the descriptions in English which is not applicable for Danish schoolboys and -girls. How do I do descriptions in Danish?

  17. When creating a
circuit, it would be nice to be able to type the control numbers with
the numeric keypad instead of selecting the control circle on the map.
I hope the next version could do that.

  18. The perceived shortest route for a leg often depend on how you look at the map.
I would like to be able to look at the map in the direction aligned with a certain leg of the course. To choose a challenging location for the control. Especially for sprints, I noticed that sometimes a different route choice seems obvious depending on whether you look with North on top or with me next control on top.

  19. The simplest addtions are direction indicators in column 8 of the CDs - Arrows for each compas direction - and control codes that allow for A-E, A-C, A etc, which already works, but only once per code. The next is to add small dots for the solutions sheet where the kites are placed including the zero (non existant kite).
