  2. Allow rotation of map.

Some maps are not drawn with meridians parallell to the edge of the map. I would like to be able to rotate the map to correct angle. As it is now it is not possible to make the control numbers and control descriptions parallel to meridians on these maps.

  4. When the background map changes in PurplePen, a prompt appears asking if the map should be reloaded.

Often the map is made up of two OCAD files, one containing the map and the other containing the format (border, northlines, title, etc.).

The formatting OCAD file uses the raw-map OCAD file as a background map.

If the raw-map OCAD files is changed, PurplePen doesn't prompt for the map to be reloaded.

The background maps of OCAD maps should be watched for changes

  5. Function to draw rectangle and line is available. Extra circle would be also usefull. For Training, when you want to group set of symbols in score course.

  6. I would consider very useful to have simple distance measurement tool that allowed to measure the actual distance of the optimal route leg. I consider specially useful when drawing sprints. The workaround I do is to draw in Open Orienteering Mapper.

  7. It is hard to add multiple lines of text on the map. You currently have to add one textbox for each line of text which is:
    1. Annoying to edit since you dont know how large or long the text will be
    2. Hard to make the different lines aligned correctly.

    My suggestion is to:
    1. Make it possible to edit a textbox directly on the map
    2. Allow multiple lines of text by allowing line breaks in the edit box

  9. For me it would be helpful to set numerically the size and location (e.g. X,Y coordinates) of an object. Some time I need align objects, and I would like to align them with high precision.

  10. Many years ago I used a planning program called Wincacs. One place it won out over purple pen was in its display of leg and control load. By drawing all used legs and controls in an event, with different size circles and thickness of lines depending on the loading it gave a much quicker idea of which legs and controls are overloaded. Currently this is a lot more clunky in purple pen. Its not critical, but it would be a nice addition.

  12. It would be very useful if we can group circuits in tabs it the tool bar.
For example : One map, mutliple courses and multiple circuit.

  13. In Norway there is an mobile app, InvisibleO https://usynligo.no/about, that is becomming popular during the pandemic. This app makes it possible to run an orienteering course without controls in the forrest, since it use GPS position from your mobile to tell when you are at the control.

To make this work the map in Purple Pen must be georeferenced, and I'm aware that OCAD or OpenOrienteeringMapper files support this. But we don't want OCAD files distributed to everyone, because we want to avoid the risk of having several copies of the map where changes are done in each file.…

  14. The rectangle is nice for making borders on maps. Would be great if it had a white padding option, so we don't need to use the white masking tool. Padding should extend to infinity outside the border.

  16. When adding an OCAD map file give a warning if the OCAD map has linked images - and where the OCAD file is looking for those images - in case I don't have those images and don't know they're missing...

  17. Hello!
It is always such a hard time to print multiple courses on the same sheet of paper for intervalls and such. It would be really nice to have a function that you can say: Oh I want four courses on this sheet and I what these four to be the ones that gets printed.
This is to make short intervall training a lot easier to set and so the scales and such all match up and gets right.
I would love such a feature!

  18. At the moment the choice is all to make them all the same or to set the area individually. I have resorted to manually editing the .ppen file to make a number of them the same.

  19. This would be useful for beginners as the text would read exactly the same as the symbols. e.g. use "N knoll, E edge" rather than "E edge of N knoll"

  20. At present, special instructions such as "map exchange at control" are only available in some languages, but not in others.
In contrast to control descriptions proper, they cannot be customized via the "customize text description" menu option.
As a consequence, in my text description, "map exchange at control" appears in English, while everything else is German.
Apparently, all it needs is a few extra lines in the symbols.xml (or via Ctrl Shift Help Menu), but one would have to meddle with Windows Admin rights to write into that file.
