support phi-loops
The new support for butterflies and relay forking is great, but it would be awesome to have the option of creating course variations with phi-loops as well. These seem to be more commonly used by planners than traditional butterfly loops these days.
(Basic diagram of a phi-loop here, although note you can also include controls on the diagonal between 1,6 and 3,7: http://news.worldofo.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/philoop-300x226.jpg)

Allow repeated use of Forbidden Route tool without re-selecting it.
At the moment it takes ages to mark a long forbidden route as the tool has to be re-selected from the menu for each X.

Print multiple course pa in one page
For training, it's sometimes good to create several smaller courses to be printed in the same page.
I hope my description isn't to hard to understand.
But for example if doing orienteering intervals with a common start point for all intervals. Printing all intervals in one map can show up as quite messy. If dividing the map inte several smaller maps each one containing one interval makes it easier.
If printing on one A4 page and having 6 intervals, then each interval could for example be a round map with diameter 8 cm. Control definition needs to be provided for…10 votes -
copy punch patterns from another event
Copy control punch patterns from matching control codes in another events. If your club uses the same codes with the same punch patterns from event to event, this would allow you to skip having to reenter punch patterns more than once.

Allow defining a smaller size for control code when map contains both order number and control code
Currently it is nice that you can place the control code next to the order number. It would be nice (to save some space) to be able to control the size of the control code separately. Normally I'd like it to be bit smaller than the order number.

A way to choose font and size for the text descriptions (they are small know compared to the symbols)
A way to choose font and size for the text descriptions (they are small know compared to the symbols). For instence "Arial narrow" is a larger tfont size would be more readable and still not require more width.

Print all courses on one map
A feature that should be very useful when planning big events is to print all courses on one map. We need to show land owner an authorities which belts that will be used so they, for example, kan see if the load on the nature is ok. All courses on one map wold give a good overview.

support entering climb on each course leg
I find myself re-calculating the climb for my courses, and having to double and triple check my work. It would be really nice to be able to calculate and set the climb for each leg separately. Purple Pen could even prompt the user to re-set the climb on affected legs if a control is moved after the climb has been set.

Add option to add PNG/SVG overlay to map
For our events, we have common styling for maps. For now, we solve this by creating a pdf of the map.
But if we decide to use a different region at a later stage, we have to create new map file.
It would be great if we could add some Png/svg overlay, that can be reused between events to keep the maps in the same style and make the process of map creation simpler5 votes -
Export function for course data to Etiming
We are using the Emit system and Etiming software for result service. It is possible to import cource data from ocad. (version 8 text format in ocad)
The file from ocad is in this format:
;Lang;0;5.500;0;S1;0.793;131;0.879;132;0.585;133;0.646;134;0.641;135;0.749;136;0.587;137;0.626;M1;[Cource name];[Cource number];[lenght];[declenation];[Start name];[lenght to 1 control];[code 1 control];[code first conrol];[lenght to 2 control];[code 2 control] .......[name finich]
With this function it will be possible set up the cources in the Etiming software by just importing this file, and also reduce the risk of writing errors.

Allow ignoring of some courses from the event audit
I often create courses for control putting out or collecting. An option to remove them from event audit or cross referencing. They'll need to be identified in the course tab titles in italics or with an asterisk etc.

More Hotkeys!
I like hotkeys, they make things faster. Only hotkey that I managed to find was Ctrl-A for new Control.
I would suggest at least two new hotkeys:
- Select some element, Ctrl-C would copy it.
- Add last added item, Ctrl-L or Ctrl-N, or something else.I think those would make things lot easier and faster and for the implementation point of view, doesn't sound big to implement.

Flagged course
At least in Czech Republic we have flagged course for the youngest. These courses are flagged along whole course, it would be nice to be able to do this in Purple Pen. Currently, I can do it by making separate project and use bend tool to mark the flagged path.

watch for changes to background maps of maps
When the background map changes in PurplePen, a prompt appears asking if the map should be reloaded.
Often the map is made up of two OCAD files, one containing the map and the other containing the format (border, northlines, title, etc.).
The formatting OCAD file uses the raw-map OCAD file as a background map.
If the raw-map OCAD files is changed, PurplePen doesn't prompt for the map to be reloaded.
The background maps of OCAD maps should be watched for changes

Translate text description of special instructions
At present, special instructions such as "map exchange at control" are only available in some languages, but not in others.
In contrast to control descriptions proper, they cannot be customized via the "customize text description" menu option.
As a consequence, in my text description, "map exchange at control" appears in English, while everything else is German.
Apparently, all it needs is a few extra lines in the symbols.xml (or via Ctrl Shift Help Menu), but one would have to meddle with Windows Admin rights to write into that file.3 votes -
History facility
Ocad has very useful File>Information facilty to make notes on successive changes to planning, base map etc. Hopefully easy to implement.
