  1. In Norway there is an mobile app, InvisibleO https://usynligo.no/about, that is becomming popular during the pandemic. This app makes it possible to run an orienteering course without controls in the forrest, since it use GPS position from your mobile to tell when you are at the control.

    To make this work the map in Purple Pen must be georeferenced, and I'm aware that OCAD or OpenOrienteeringMapper files support this. But we don't want OCAD files distributed to everyone, because we want to avoid the risk of having several copies of the map where changes are done in each file.…

  2. The IOF export dialog currently defaults to IOF xml 2.0.3. This causes issues for novice users when the want to create iof xml files for apps such as UsynligO (which requires 3.0 format). Please consider to default to the newer version of the iof xml format (3.0) instead. Thanks!

  5. Hello everybody !

    IIRC this is my very first post in this group.

    I am an experienced OCAD-user but a novice in PurplePen.

    In a recent training session we used a map in scale of 1:4000. The training was held well after sunset and we run with headlamps. Sprint maps are hard to read in adverse lighting conditions, specially when the size of control circles turned out to be not compliant with ISSprOM 2019.
    It was 5,35mm instead 6,00.

    Did we miss something under initialisation ? Se link bellow to screeshoots

  6. I find Purple Pen much easier to use than Condes, but other club members are used to Condes. It would simplify communication if we could convert between the two formats.

  7. We like to create colored borders for different course maps. Currently you have to create a rectangle and fiddle with it to match the edges of the print area. It would be nice to have an option to do this automatically.

  9. When adding controls you have to always click Add Control to add new control. This is the same for other functions also. It is a little frustrating to always click Add Control button after adding control.

  11. For me it would be helpful to set numerically the size and location (e.g. X,Y coordinates) of an object. Some time I need align objects, and I would like to align them with high precision.

  12. Many schools and teachers are using the Google Suite, - not Microsoft Windows. Therefore it will make sence to develop an app, or an extention to be used on-line

  13. I would consider very useful to have simple distance measurement tool that allowed to measure the actual distance of the optimal route leg. I consider specially useful when drawing sprints. The workaround I do is to draw in Open Orienteering Mapper.

  15. 1) Currently text is displayed on a lower level layer, so it is hidden under images. It would be nice to have text on top.

    2) White out area is very useful. It would be equally great to have a "any color" area (which I would mainly use to write text on top of it)

  17. I LOVE Purple Pen, but the text boxes take a lot of fiddling.

    Use Case: I want to have a standard text box on multiple courses but on different locations on the printout.
    Current Workaround:
    1. Since I can't copy and paste a text box from a previous course, I create the text box typing in the same text again.
    2. Long text does not automatically wrap, so I have to create multiple boxes and try to size them to line up (ugh).
    3. The box appears on all courses by default but I want them in different locations on…

  18. When exporting IOF 3.0 XML for Score O courses, the randomOrder="true" attribute is not set for ConurseControl elements. I would have expected something like this:

    <CourseControl randomOrder="true">
    <Control>1</Control>
    <Score>10</Score>
    </CourseControl>

    but instead I get this:

    <CourseControl type="Control">
        <Control>1</Control>
     </CourseControl>

    I have created a concept of "invisible" orienteering via a free app (the concept is: no control flags in the forest, instead the UsynligO app will let you know when you found the next control point.The issue of the missing randomOrder attribute prevents me from automatically detecting if a course is a Score O course. It would be great if you…

  19. At present, special instructions such as "map exchange at control" are only available in some languages, but not in others.
    In contrast to control descriptions proper, they cannot be customized via the "customize text description" menu option.
    As a consequence, in my text description, "map exchange at control" appears in English, while everything else is German.
    Apparently, all it needs is a few extra lines in the symbols.xml (or via Ctrl Shift Help Menu), but one would have to meddle with Windows Admin rights to write into that file.

  20. When placing control descriptions, adjusting its position and size for every course (due to different space on map within courses) some descriptions already placed has moved on the layout - it seems like descriptions are somehow related - when repositioned in place again, the other moves off and vice versa. Again and again. Help!
