allow alphabetic control codes
Instead of numbers, our club uses letters: AA-AZ, BA-BZ, etc. These control codes are on laminated cards tied into the hang string on the control flags. We can't use Purple Pen.
3 votesAlthough Purple Pen numbers controls by default, alphabetic codes are fully supported by Purple Pen. You can change a single code by clicked it in the description pane. Or, change all codes at once by selecting “Change Control Codes” from the Event menu.

Allow multiple lines of text in a text box.
All text in a text box currently goes onto a single line. This can mean that several text boxes are needed to put a lot of readable text in a restricted area.
4 votesIn version 1.1.2, text will wrap onto a second line if necessary.

Allow export as EPS
Ability to export the courses as EPS. Currently, my flow is Purple Pen -> .ocd -> OCAD -> Export as EPS -> Abobe Illustrator -> PDF. It would be nice to take OCAD out of the loop completely.
3 votesVersion 2.1 allows export as PDF. I think that will work just as well as EPS for your purposes. If not, please open a new request or email me explaining why.

Allow OCAD background maps
We often split an OCAD map with a map content file and a frame file. This allows us to produce maps of large school sites with one base and have multiple extracts. It is also a useful approach for very large maps.
The reason for this approach is to only have one survey file. We have a frame file and bring in a partial map as a background file. To make this work in Purplepen we have to import the OCAD background to make one flat file.
14 votesVersion 2.2 Of Purple Pen now fully supports OCAD background files/maps.

Allow placing other OCAD files on top of the map.
When a course uses a small section of a large OCAD map, it usually doesn't make sense to have the legend, scalebar, logos, etc as part of the main map. It would be great if these could be saved as separate files and inserted into an appropriate location for each course.
8 votesOCAD background maps are now fully supported by Purple Pen 2.2.0.

Allow Taped Finish on clue sheet
Currently the clue sheet shows the distance from thelast control to the finish but it does not allow you to show if it is taped, solid line, or has pieces of tape, broken line, marking the route.
4 votesYou can change this the same way that you change a regular symbol in the description sheet. Click once to select the finish, click again on the finish line and the three options for the finish control (taped, not taped, funnel) will be shown, and you can choose the correct one.

Allow classes to be printed onto maps in purple print. This is very useful for competitions where different classes use the same course. It can currently be done for Clue Sheets but not on maps.

create files necessary for Route Gadget
Have Purple Pen export a JPG file of the map and the XML course file necessary to display the event in the Route Gadget program. This would allow the course setter to setup Route Gadget without using OCAD.

improve score-O events
Possible improvements:
- Optionally number score-O controls (1, 2, 3...)
- Place points in a different column of the description (e.g., after column H)
- Score-O without points display at all (if all controls are the same amount, or you have to go all controls)
13 votesPurple Pen 1.1 now address this with new options in Course Properties.
