Allow Classes to be printed onto maps
Allow classes to be printed onto maps in purple print. This is very useful for competitions where different classes use the same course. It can currently be done for Clue Sheets but not on maps.

enable a toggle key, like how F4 works, which turns on or off an outline of the current print area for the selected course.
When positioning control descriptions or text on the map it is useful to know that they will appear within the area that will be printed. Sometimes during the planning stages I may wish to print some part of the map at a larger scale and being able to see whether I need to change the print area would be useful.
7 votesView/Show Print Area now implements this.

Improve Add / Remove Gap
Gap position on circle unpredictable about the point clicked. Either make it always symetrical about this point or make Remove Gap a button, as have to retry several times to get gap in right place, especially long gaps.
7 votesIn version 2.0, the gaps in control circles have been significantly approved to allow large gaps to be more easily created, and small gaps perfectly centered.

Allow relay team numbers to start at a number greater than 1
For a relay event with more than one class, say 'men' and 'women', allow the team numbers for men to start at 1 (say) and the women at 101. At present the work-around appears to be to define 200 women's teams and to print the maps for only teams 101 upwards, but this means that the XML and PDF exports of team variations contain a lot of unnecessary data.
6 votesVersion 3.1.5 has this implemented.

Am I able to open a course which would show that course in the usual purple, and then show all the other courses with black lines?
By showing any nominated course with purple lines, and then showing all other courses with black with arrows showing direction of travel. This will then show pictoraily all common controls. This would then make it easy to decide on water points, whether or not too many people were visiting a control, or whether runners were entering the control from the same direction and therefore assist in following.
5 votesYou can use “Other Courses” on the View menu to view any or all other courses.

Use / for control that is multiple times in a course
Control that is multiple times in a course, gets two numbers but they are placed somewhere separated from each other, using / like so "4/9/18" is much easier to read.
4 votesThis is fixed in 3.0.0 beta

allow multiple finish leg types
We regularly have a taped last leg for juniors but a navigate for seniors. The category of last leg should be a feature of the leg, not the finish.

Reduce the file size when printing
When I try to print directly from PP the file size is so large that my network falls over. If I export it to OCAD the file size is much smaller and it prints OK.
4 votesThe print file size should be significantly reduces in Purple Pen 2.0.

Allow multiple lines of text in a text box.
All text in a text box currently goes onto a single line. This can mean that several text boxes are needed to put a lot of readable text in a restricted area.
4 votesIn version 1.1.2, text will wrap onto a second line if necessary.

Allow Taped Finish on clue sheet
Currently the clue sheet shows the distance from thelast control to the finish but it does not allow you to show if it is taped, solid line, or has pieces of tape, broken line, marking the route.
4 votesYou can change this the same way that you change a regular symbol in the description sheet. Click once to select the finish, click again on the finish line and the three options for the finish control (taped, not taped, funnel) will be shown, and you can choose the correct one.

Solve bug: XML file produces comma's instead of dots with x and y coordinates
It seems you use the Locale for converting the numbers to strings to write to the XML-file. This causes that the XML-file cannot be read by Helga.
For our next event I edited the XML-file manually to solve this.

Allow several start (and finish) points in one course.
In some courses after a taped route you use a new start control. This is not possible in Purple Pen. At least I can't do it. This would also be useful if you are making "interval courses" for training.
3 votesYou can now use Map Exchanges in Purple Pen 2.0 to achieve this.

Avoid moving controls shared by multiple courses by a mistake
The most significant usability problem I encounter with purple pen is that I drag a control to an alternate position forgetting it is shared by another course.
On the course view, when you move a control on one course that influences another a warning should (optionally) be offered. Maybe this should only be offered if the legs are not shared or maybe that would be confusing.
3 votesThis is now done in 2.5.0.
