Allow all controls to be moved
When map files are updated and used for a prior version of a PP course, the controls are often shifted some amount. It would be very helpful to have a way to move all the controls (or the map file) to realign them. Several questions on the yahoo forum have mentioned this useful suggestion.

Means to include the file name on the map
Under Insert Special Text, allow means to include the current filename.
I update the filename with a version letter after changes. It would help to be confident from the output which version was being used.2 votes -
make the control description block a standard size
Create the control description at a standard size, based on the font size, but allow the block to be resized to fit the space on the map.

automatically generate control descriptions
Could Ppen read the OCAD file and determine what object was located at the point the control was placed? If the object was a point feature, the description could be automatically generated.

support entering climb on each course leg
I find myself re-calculating the climb for my courses, and having to double and triple check my work. It would be really nice to be able to calculate and set the climb for each leg separately. Purple Pen could even prompt the user to re-set the climb on affected legs if a control is moved after the climb has been set.

Allow repeated use of Forbidden Route tool without re-selecting it.
At the moment it takes ages to mark a long forbidden route as the tool has to be re-selected from the menu for each X.

At the moment marking a long forbidden route is very tedious as you have to re-select the tool from the menu to place each X.

Arrange text descriptions in same order as symbols.
This would be useful for beginners as the text would read exactly the same as the symbols. e.g. use "N knoll, E edge" rather than "E edge of N knoll"

An automatic freehand line drawing
When you push (or click) left mouse button it soud begin to track points where ever the mouse pointer goes, until you release (or click again) the left mouse button. Probably is more usefull if you add this behavior to every line drawing tool, and provide a activated/desactivated method as example by holding down/releasing a key (shift or control key).

Course length in meters
For short courses it would be more convenient to display the length in meters.

allow multiple maps in one event
Allow adding additional OCAD/bitmap maps to an event. If the additional maps overlap in any way, you would be able to mark a common point between the maps so that control locations automatically relate between the maps. This would allow:
- Different OCAD maps for 1:10000 and 1:15000 maps of the same area
- Map exchanges that actually use a different map
- Part of a course on a different scale.map of the same area
- Courses that are in different area entirely

This would save time having to click it for each control added to a course.

allow custom text description for control
Currently Purple Pen allows you to customize the text associated with a particular symbol on the description sheet. However, sometimes you may wish to complete customize the text for one particular control. If implemented, this feature would allow you to change the textual description for a control to anything you wanted, completely bypassing the automatic creation of the textual description. If you change the symbolic description later, you would be prompted to update the text description also, so you don't forget

allow notes to be attached to controls
Allow free-form text notes to be attached to particular controls, and printed/viewed in some way. Interesting details how this should work.
For example, are notes attached to a control regardless of course, or to a control in a course, or allow either?
Allow notes attached to other things (course, leg, special item, start, finish)?

allow manual setting of leg length
For courses other than sprint, length measurement is along the shortest passable route (measuring around lakes, buildings, etc.), and it is often not proper to bend the connecting line around such objects (because there is a left/right route choice around them). It would be nice to be able to click on the length and manually edit it. I guess it would make sense for it to revert if the course were edited, though.

History facility
Ocad has very useful File>Information facilty to make notes on successive changes to planning, base map etc. Hopefully easy to implement.

copy punch patterns from another event
Copy control punch patterns from matching control codes in another events. If your club uses the same codes with the same punch patterns from event to event, this would allow you to skip having to reenter punch patterns more than once.

Support exporting course information in the OCAD text format, in addition to the current IOF XML format.
